Old Ashmoleans 2nds Win Merit Table!
If they turn up to there last 3 games
On the 13th of January the Old Ashmoleans 2nd team beat Stevenage 3rd of the second time this season and in doing so Won West Herts North Middlesex Merit Table 4 for the 2006-2007 seasons.
On the 6th of January Old Ashmoleans 2nd loss its first Merit Table game against Harpenden 3rd 8-9 at home this seasons.
There are 3 games left to play and against Old Grammarians 2nd , Harrow 3rd and The Mount. The Mount is unable to play its games for the rest of the seasons as its pitch has had to have more prison cell build on it so under Merit Table rules that game will be given to Old Ashmoleans as a 25-0 win this means that as long the 2nd turn up to the home game against Harrow 3rd at home and Old Grammarians 2nd away they will be Champions. This is the first thing other than a number of drinking contest that Old Ashmoleans 2nd have ever won.

At the start of 2007
The 2nd team has now played 9 of the 14 games in it Merit Table and has won 7 and has had 2 games awarded to them as Barnet have been unable to play there 2 games. This means that the team is 9 and 0 in the Merit Table.
The 2nd team now has a 3 game leader over 2nd placed Hemel Hempstead and need to win 3 more games to win the Merit Table if we turn up for the other 2. I don't think (and old boys please tell me other wise) the Old Ashmoleans 2nd team has ever won its Merit Table.

As well as playing in Herts merit table 4 the 2s have also played 5 other games 2 preseason game at home to Haringey Rhinos 2nd, away to Hendon 2nd and a game against local rivals Old Tots all 3 of which they won. As well as 2 very tough other games when Barnet could not play there Merit Table games. The first away to Hitchin 2nds which we also won, an away to Cheshunt 2nds on the 16th of December which was the first loss of the seasons in a game that ended 5-3 to a good Cheshunt side.
This means that at the start of 2007 the Old Ashmolean Second XV has played 12 games, won 11 and lost 1 game.
